Research and development

parson participates in the following research projects:

Development of iiRDS

iiRDS stands for intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard and is the standard for the delivery of technical documentation and other types of information as intelligent information. iiRDS defines a standardized metadata vocabulary for the semantic enrichment of content and a package format for delivery. More about iiRDS

As a founding member of iiRDS, parson has been involved in the definition and development of the standard since 2016 and is a certified iiRDS consultant.

From 2018 to 2023, Ulrike Parson was chair of the iiRDS Steering Committee. As a member of the Steering Committee, she continues to actively support the work of the iiRDS Consortium. Learn more

Participation in iiRDS working groups

parson also participates in the iiRDS working groups “Development” and “Tools” for the further development of the standard. Mark Schubert, Technical Consultant at parson, led the “Development” working group for five years. Mark is also iiRDS ambassador for the Industrial Ontologies Foundry IOF.

Development of the iiRDS DITA-OT plugin

Together with parson, our partner Empolis has developed a plugin to generate iiRDS packages from DITA files. The plugin is easy to use and can be adapted to project specific requirements. Learn more

iiRDS pilot projects

The iiRDS consortium supports projects that use iiRDS as so-called pilot projects. parson has supported Danfoss and Endress+Hauser with the implementation of iiRDS.

Danfoss goes iiRDS: Moving to a standards-based metadata model

The pilot project of Danfoss and parson demonstrates the use of iiRDS in a DITA-based CCMS and how iiRDS metadata is used to classify DITA topics and DITA maps.

Digital standards with IDiS

Since 2021, parson is one of the member companies in the network of the interdisciplinary “Digital Standards Initiative” (IDiS).

IDiS promotes the development of digital standards (SMART standards), which provide all relevant information for people and machines in the appropriate form, whenever and wherever it is needed. On behalf of DIN and DKE, IDiS promotes and accelerates the development and application of SMART standards in Germany as well as their gradual establishment.

Participation in IDiS pilot projects

As an iiRDS ambassador, parson has actively participated in pilot projects for the integration of standards in the asset administration shell.
