Presentations and workshops at tcworld conference 2024

Alles KI oder was? Ist KI die Wunderwaffe für die Technische Kommunikation? (Is everything AI? Is AI the magic bullet for technical communication?)

Ulrike Parson, parson, and Dr. Britta Görs, Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Expert talk, November 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m., Plenum 1 (in German)

Artificial intelligence can help you write, organize, and retrieve content. But what is AI best used for, and how is it changing the way we work in technical communication? This presentation explains how to identify use cases for AI and automation potential in the content supply chain, and how to select a technology for the solution. More

Die Softwareentwickler sind los – Einfache Dokumentationsumgebung für komplexe Anforderungen gesucht (Software developers on the move – looking for a simple documentation environment for complex requirements)

Paula Thomsen, Finnova and Marion Knebel, parson
Partner presentation, November 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m. (in German)

Finnova has been developing intelligent banking solutions for 50 years. About 100 software developers write Finnova's product documentation in agile Scrum teams. The content is semi-automatically processed and translated from Word and Confluence. However, this document-based setup leads to an increase in authoring and user-related problems. Our project with parson AG aims to create a modern authoring environment with powerful content delivery. We report on our journey with parson AG, our approach, the difficulties we encountered along the way, and the valuable lessons we learned. More

Your way to iiRDS – Playing with the DITA Open Toolkit

Mark Schubert, parson, and Martin Kreutzer, Empolis
Workshop, November 5, 2024, 11.30 a.m.

Bring your DITA files and we build an iiRDS package. We will use the new iiRDS plugin for the DITA Open Toolkit and learn how it processes your DITA content to generate an iiRDS package. Then we’ll dive right into your iiRDS package and see how iiRDS metadata annotates your content. We will show you how the plugin extracts metadata from your DITA files and discuss potential use cases for content delivery. And for added fun, there’s going to be a raffle! You might be lucky and see your DITA files in a content delivery portal today! More

Danfoss goes iiRDS – Moving to a standard-based metadata model - the journey continues

Holger Thater, Danfoss and Frank Ralf, parson
Partner presentation, November 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m.

As a supplier for AC drives, the digital agenda is crucial for Danfoss Drives. That is why we are implementing digital product information delivery as close to industry standards as possible. Hence, we selected a DITA-based CCMS and based the metadata model on iiRDS right from the beginning. After we have demonstrated the metadata analyzing and definition phase in last year's presentation we will present the implementation/usage of iiRDS elements in MadCap IXIA CCMS together with our partner parson AG, who helped us developing and implementing the metadata model. More

Die Evolution des Wissens: Intelligente Content-Erstellung im Zeitalter von Mensch und KI (The evolution of knowledge: creating intelligent content in the age of humans and artificial intelligence)

Panel discussion, November 5, 2024, 5:30 p.m., Plenum 1 (in German)

Panelists:

  • Ulrike Parson, parson AG
  • Klaus Fleischmann, Kaleidoscope GmbH
  • Helmut Nagy, Semantic Web Company GmbH
  • Dr. Harald Stadlbauer, Ninefeb Technical Documentation GmbH

Moderation:

  • Karsten Schrempp, PANTOPIX GmbH

In an era where intelligent content is increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, humans are at the center of an evolving cycle as creative drivers. The goal is to deliver customized content with semantic depth that is precisely tailored to the user's needs. This process is initiated by human authors and supported by generative AI, with human expertise stepping in where AI reaches its limits. In this panel we would like to discuss the dynamics of this "knowledge in circulation". More

Wenn der digitale Zwilling die Dokumentation steuert (When the digital twin drives documentation)

Ulrike Parson, parson, and Thomas Ziesig, Endress+Hauser
Partner presentation, November 6, 2024, 12.30 p.m. (in German)

The exact product configuration is mapped in a digital twin of the product. Matching technical documentation information should also be delivered. But how do you create accurate, modular information? Endress+Hauser decided to use the product configuration as the leading element in the creation of documentation. More

Stein auf Stein - Wir bauen Ihre Dokumentation modular um (Brick by brick – we rebuild your documentation in a modular way)

Lukas Jetzig and Patrick Schedlbauer, parson
Workshop, November 6, 2024, 4:30 p.m. (in German)

Technical documentation is often created with the idea of a coherent document. However, modern scenarios for creating, delivering, and using documentation are based on modular content that can be individually assembled, filtered, and searched. But what do you do if you already have document-based content? Let us work together to convert an existing document from a document-based to a topic-based approach. More
